The winter skiing landscape is often experienced as a vertical portrait from the vantage point of chairlifts. The effect is an aerial perspective similiar to the 16th and 17th century Dutch winter landscape paintings by masters like Bruegel and Avercamp: each scene is marked by a unified ground of sky and ice that pushes the figures human activity forward in contrast.
Whistler Elevation 1,850m cataloges skiers and snowboards as they begin their descent from upper mid-mountain.
