The Skating Fields series muses on a number of Canadian landscapes animated by ice skating. In the tradition of 16th and 17th century Dutch masters like Bruegel and Avercamp, each scene is marked by a unified ground of sky and ice that pushes the figures human activity forward in contrast.
Place D’Youville II depicts an outdoor ice skating rink near St. John Gate at the heart of Quebec City.
